Vision Research Workshop

The Department of Ophthalmology, Visual and Anatomical Sciences, is organizing its 11th Annual Vision Research Workshop on October 23, 2024 to highlight the research accomplishments of our graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, research assistants/associates, residents and clinical fellows. The goal of this workshop is to provide an outstanding opportunity for the vision community on the WSU campus to interact with each other and exchange ideas for possible collaboration.

The Vision Research Workshop will be held at the Detroit Athletic Club in Detroit

Michael F. Chiang, MD, Director of the National Eye Institute, National Institutes of Health, will be our Robert Frank, Clinical Translational Distinguished Keynote Speaker.

The Call for Abstracts from the research community of WSU for work related to the eye and vision will go out in July 2024. The deadline for abstract submission is August 12, 2024. Abstracts should be arranged under the following headings: Purpose, Methods, Results Conclusions with 2500 characters and spaces without Figures and Tables. Presentations will be judged by WSU faculty, post-doctoral and graduate students. Prizes for the top three presentations will be awarded based on scientific content and significance, clarity and ability to address questions. All submissions will receive an email confirmation of submission. If you do not receive one in 2 business days please reach out to iciungan@med.wayne.edu

We also encourage you to submit a picture from your work which could be used as the cover page, and the selected picture will be honored with a special award.

Abstract Submissions Guidelines

Abstracts may be submitted via the “Submit Your Abstract” option below. The deadline to submit abstracts is 5 p.m. on August 12st, 2024.

  • – Abstracts must be work that has not been accepted for publication at the time of submission.

  • – The abstract should include four distinct parts- Purpose, Methods, Results and Conclusions.

  • – There is a limit of 2500 characters and spaces for the title and abstract body text.

  • – An Individual may be First Author (Presenting Author) of only one abstract. There is no limit to the number of times an individual may appear as a co-author on abstracts.

  • – All submissions will receive email confirmation within 2 business days. If you do not receive confirmation, your abstract was not received and requires follow up (iciungan@med.wayne.edu).

Please indicate your type preference from one of the following three options:

  • – A. #1 Oral presentation, #2 Poster

  • – B. #1 Poster, #2 Oral presentation

  • – C. Poster only

PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

– Oral presentation will be 10 minutes with a brief Q&A at the end of each session.

– Poster Presentations and Judging will take place during the Mid-Conference Break.
