KRESGE EYE INSTITUTE TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH INNOVATION GRANT (TRIG) RFA #KEI-2016-3
Applications are being solicited by the Kresge Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology and Anatomy and Cell Biology’s Translational Research Innovation Grant (TRIG). TRIG challenges the scientific community to design innovative inter-programmatic projects, which exhibit great potential of leading to multi-PI grant submission or single PI submission. This year, funding is available to support an outstanding project(s) that is neither presently funded nor pending review.
Awards will be for a maximum of $50,000*. Applicants can be single or multi-PI. Priority will be given to applications, which are translational in nature and utilize the Shared Resources “cores” of the NEI funded Core Vision Grant.
Awards will be made for a period of 12 months at which time projects are expected to be submitted for conventional extramural funding (NEI R01). Funds are contingent upon IRB approval of each project, where appropriate. No bridge funding support will be allowed.
Applications are limited to 5 pages and are due no later than September 1, 2016. It is anticipated awards will be activated by November 30, 2016.
*Funds are eligible to all ocular investigations of clinical relevance with emphasis on diabetic retinopathy, retinal function, restoration of blinding eye diseases, and innate and acquired immunity to ocular pathogens.
