Dr. Walter Jay received his Bachelor of Science degree, Honors, Magna Cum Laude from Loyola University of Chicago in 1972. He then received his M.D. degree in 1976 form the University of Chicago in 1976 where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Jay was a resident in Ophthalmology at the University of Chicago and a Fellow at the University of California San Francisco in Neuro-Ophthalmology under Dr. William M. Hoyt.
For the last 25 years, Dr. Jay has been Professor of Ophthalmology at Loyola University Chicago. In 2010, Dr. Jay was Faculty Member of the Year at Loyola University of Chicago. This award was for the entire university. For the last 8 years, Dr. Jay has been Co-Editor-in -Chief of the journal, Neuro-Ophthalmology. He has co-authored 121 journal articles and 45 published abstracts. Dr. Jay has received Certificates of Appreciation from the American Board of Ophthalmology and an Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Jay has been an invited speaker throughout the United States and foreign countries, including Turkey, Taiwan, and Sri Lanka.
