Vikas Chopra, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and a full-time faculty member at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, as well as, a principal investigator of the Doheny Image Reading Center at the Doheny Eye Institute, and as the Medical Director of the UCLA Doheny Eye Centers in Pasadena. Dr. Chopra currently holds the Charles Stewart Warren and Hildegard Warren Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology at the Doheny Eye Institute.
He graduated from Pennsylvania State University’s College of Medicine, and then finished a Residency in Ophthalmology where he served as Chief Resident, as well as, an additional Fellowship in Glaucoma at the Kresge Eye Institute of Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Before joining UCLA, Dr. Chopra served as the Associate Residency Program Director at USC. He continues to be intensively involved in resident ophthalmic education and is regularly invited to teach at surgery courses nationwide including the Harvard Medical School’s annual Intensive Cataract Surgery course, and Director of the CORE and CSE resident-cataract-surgery courses. Dr. Chopra’s proudest accomplishments include receiving the numerous teaching awards given by USC ophthalmology residents during his tenure there. He had been awarded Resident Teaching Awards (2005-2006, 2006-2007, 2007-2008, 2009-2010).
Dr. Chopra has published more than 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts, review articles and book chapters, and served as an invited lecturer at various local and national meetings. He has been named as Top Doctor in Pasadena, Super Doctors in Southern California and one of Best Doctors in America.
