“Planning Cataract Surgery in Post Kerato-Refractive Surgery Patients“

Dr. Haddad’s enthusiasm for vision correction began early in his career during his residency at Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, MI. Upon graduating from KEI in 1987, he focused on refractive surgery, following Dr. Leo Boris and Dr. Spencer Thornton to learn radial keratotomy. Dr. Haddad went on to pioneer Custom RK to individualize RK surgery, as well as using odd number RK incisions to reduce induced astigmatism.
With desire to improve outcomes and reduce complications for his patients, Dr. Haddad made it his priority to be at the forefront of technological advances in ophthalmology. Eagerly adopting new technology such as inserting foldable IOL’s (1989), suture-less & no shot cataract surgery (92-94) multifocal IOL 1999, first Wavefront guided laser (2003), Iris Registration (2005), and he is the first Michigan doctor to perform the Visumax SMILE procedure 2016.
Dr. Haddad served as President of the Michigan Kerato-refractive Society 1996-1997, and has had the pleasure of speaking and teaching at various conferences nationally and internationally, such as ASCRS, ISRS, AAO, Michigan Kerato-refractive Society, Aspen Corneal Society, ACES, and ESCRS. His courses have covered a variety of material, including astigmatism, centration, trackers, WFG LVC, Iris Registration and pupil centroid shift compensation.
